Found in 1984, the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology (KSGO) stands as a prominent and esteemed organization at the forefront of women’s cancer care in South Korea. Committed to advancing the field of gynecologic oncology, KSGO brings together a diverse and dedicated community of healthcare professionals, including gynecologic oncologists, researchers, and allied health practitioners. With a steadfast focus on excellence in research, education, and patient care, KSGO plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, disseminating knowledge, and promoting cutting-edge advancements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gynecologic cancers.

I'd like to express my greetings to our members who, despite their challenging circumstances, are dedicated to education, research, and care of patients. In the two years from December 2022 to November 2024, I shall have the great honor of serving as the 22nd President of the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology (KSGO).

One of the top gynecologic oncology societies in the world, KSGO takes excellent satisfaction in this distinction. With the pioneering viewpoints and initiatives of the foregoers, the inaugural academic conference was conducted in November 1984. Since then, the KSGO has worked to prevent, diagnose, and treat patients with gynecologic cancer to enhance women’s health in Korea, Asia, and the rest of the world.

I am preparing the following projects for my tenure in anticipation of the KSGO's 40th Anniversary in 2024.

• 1) Based on the changes in the makeup of the members, we will endeavor to build an executive team by reflecting their needs. To establish and develop a space for the younger generation that will lead KSGO in the future, we will work to create such an environment.


• 2) Internationalization (I18N) of the KSGO: We will start the KSGO Spring Meeting's I18N by getting oversea doctors to submit their abstracts voluntarily.


• 3) KSGO will make full use of the IGCS 2023 Annual Global Meeting in Seoul, which will take place from November 5 to 7, 2023, as an opportunity to advance ourselves and collaborate with neighboring sister societies. In addition, we'll help the ASGO (www.asiansgo.org) 2023 Taipei and 2024 Bali meetings succeed.


• 4) We will continue to exert the utmost effort to see that the KSGO guidelines are utilized in actual clinical practice, and we will also go forward with establishing Asian guidelines.


• 5) To help the Society's official journal, ‘J Gynecol Oncol,’ advance, we shall gather the wisdom of the interested parties.


• 6) We will move forward with some projects operated by the relevant committee.


• 7) We'll execute a project to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the KSGO's founding.



I look forward to your active involvement for each committee to play a valuable role and for the KSGO’s academic project to remain on track.
